Practice School Of Yoga Therapy is OFFICIALLY IAYT ACCREDITED! We received accreditation on November 11, 2020.
Why is this a big deal?
We are now 1 of only 61 accredited yoga therapy schools in THE WORLD. Accreditation assures a program meets a minimum standard of yoga therapy program education and delivery. IAYT requires each program to have a minimum of 800 hours and we exceed these minimum standards by 200 hours. The additional 200 hours allows our graduates to develop additional skills and confidence as they begin their career.
Our program was originally designed to include a combination of virtual hours, in-person learning hours, and pre-recorded classes. Due to the pandemic, we have had to adjust accordingly. Our students' safety and maintaining the integrity of the program are our top priorities. We plan on offering Module 1 and Module 2 of 2021 virtually and if possible as herd immunity is realized, a mixed platform. We anticipate that our program schedule in 2022 will be able to return to its original format.
Due to the pandemic, Yoga Alliance has changed its guidelines to allow for online programs to reward RYT-500 certificates to students who complete the training in a virtual manner. All students who have completed a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 program will currently receive an RYT-500 certificate of completion with their successful graduation from Module 1.
Digital PDFs of the class materials will be shared with you and you may print them out for your own use or use your electronic device to view them in class. However, the cost of the required reading material books is not included with tuition. You can find a full list of the required reading materials here. This book list will remain consistent throughout the entirety of the program. Instructors may also give additional recommended reading selections from on-line sources at no additional cost throughout the course.
IAYT requires that a student complete at least 800-hours of Yoga Therapy training to seek certification as a C-IAYT. Our program is a full 1000-hours, which grants some flexibility to attendance. If class hours are missed, students will be expected to make-up, and stay caught up on their course work. Evaluations do take place throughout the program, so it is important to learn the information missed. A student must demonstrate competency in the subject areas. They can make up work and obtain knowledge of the subjects by meeting with peers and exchanging notes, or scheduling time with a faculty member. Additional costs may be associated with make-up work that requires faculty assistance. That being said, A student who exceeds the limit on absences is in jeopardy of being suspended from the module. A thorough student handbook, detailing this policy, will be provided before the beginning of your track
We anticipate that Module 1 will run once a year. The full program will take 2 years and 9 months to complete.
Prior to receiving certification through IAYT, and after completion of Module 2, you may only refer to yourself as a Yoga Therapy Intern. This includes, but is not limited to language/copy used on websites, social media, and business cards. Referring to yourself as a Yoga Therapist prior to program completion is a breach of ethics, the Code of Conduct set forth by IAYT, and the Practice School of Yoga Therapy’s Code of Conduct. Program mentoring hours are included in the cost of the program and occur throughout the program. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their mentors regarding appropriate behavior and scope of practice for a yoga therapy student.

Module 1 is required for all students in the Yoga Therapy program and is foundational for the practice of Yoga Therapy. The 300-hours in Module 1 are part of the 1,000 program hours and are specifically designed and accredited by IAYT.
It is unlikely that Module 1 of the Yoga Therapy program will be a full repetition of your 300-hours, but having completed your 300-hour training will give you deeper insight into the materials covered in the program.
That being said, there will most likely be topics that were covered in your 300-hour, but the Yoga Therapy program will dive much deeper into those areas, through a different lens of application. You will begin to look at the ways yoga can be utilized for imbalances in the system, like depression, anxiety, diabetes, etc., and you will receive training on tools that are specific to Yoga Therapy, like postural assessment and interviewing skills. Module 1 also includes philosophy relevant to the practice of Yoga Therapy, behavior change based on philosophy and western approaches, therapeutic asana, pranayam, and meditation; and how to use them to bring sattva through the panchamaya system.
Many Yoga Therapists work with private clientele and see a variety of clients. However, some Yoga Therapists prefer to tailor their offerings and work with specific age groups, populations, or specific industries, like in mental health facilities, or recovery facilities. We have found Yoga Therapists working with veterans, those with special needs, aging populations, in hospitals, and occupational and physical therapy settings. During the program, students will learn how to build their clientele and maintain a career in Yoga Therapy.
Individual Module costs can be found on this document. (Link to collateral piece). The program enrollment costs will range from $12,000 - $13,800, depending on when the student registers. We offer discounts to students who enroll by the set Early Registration Deadlines. For more information please review our program collateral here.
Students are required to place a deposit for each Module to secure their spot in the course. After paying the deposit, students can choose to pay-in-full for the Module prior to the program start date, or they can choose to set up a payment plan.
All payment plans incur a $150 per module fee to cover the costs associated with our payment plan software. Payment plans are split into convenient installments with the intention of allowing the student to pay over the span of the course.
Module 1 is paid individually. After completion of Module 1, students can choose to enroll in Modules 2, 3, and the practicum at the same time with a combined payment plan. Combining enrollments in Module 2, 3, and practicum will include a single $150 payment plan fee for those modules.
